Oct 16, 2020 at 12:34 pm

Today’s VetPartners Member Spotlight shines on Carolyn Shadle, owner of Interpersonal Communications Services, Inc. Carolyn has been a VetPartners member since 2015. Read on to learn more about Carolyn.

How do you help veterinary professionals?

I help veterinary professionals remember that they are in the PEOPLE business, as well as the animal business. I help them enhance their communication skills when it comes to engaging with clients as well as the interaction skills so important in working cooperatively with teammates.

Why do you do what you do?

I have long observed that so many of our problems can be traced back to misunderstandings, confrontations, lack of empathy and/or avoidance of conflict – all things that can be helped with better communication skills and more confidence in interaction.

How did you get started in the industry?

When I worked at the Daniels College of Business, Univ. of Denver, I hired Constance Hardesty as a freelance writer. She ultimately left and went to serve at the Managing Editor of Trends Magazine at the American Animal Hospital Association. Knowing of my interest and expertise in communication training, she asked me to help her develop a series for Trends.
