It’s a wrap! The 2020 VetPartners Annual Meeting is over, and what a success it was. If you missed the meeting—or if you attended the meeting and want to reminisce about the good ol’ days—here’s the recap (because when it’s this good, what happens in Vegas shouldn’t stay in Vegas):

Q-and-A with VetPartners president, Deb Stone

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s VetPartners president, Deb Stone, MBA, PhD, CVPM! We sat down with Deb to discuss what’s got her flying so high these days.

Question: Surely your important work for VetPartners keeps you quite busy, but what’s your day job?
Answer: I’m the AVMA digital education lead and owner of Stone Veterinary Practice Management.

Q: How long have you been a VetPartners member?
A: I became an official member in 2007, but I lovingly stalked VetPartners several years before, back when we were known as the AVPMCA.

Q: What excites you most about the coming year for VetPartners?
A: First of all, I am extremely thrilled with how this year kicked off and the tremendous outcomes of the 2020 Annual Meeting in Las Vegas. We had a record number of registrants, and a full program that allowed members to learn, connect, build relationships, and have fun. I’m very appreciative of all the work the Program Committee put into the development and oversight of the meeting. They’ve already begun the planning for our 2020 Mid-Year Meeting in Kansas City, where we highlight Hot Rock sessions as presented by our very own members. The request for Hot Rocks submissions has already been launched, and we look forward to receiving many innovative insights that will contribute to another rockin’ Mid-Year Meeting. It was also exciting to see how members connected during the program, as well as in the meetings for the variety of committees and special interest groups (SIG) they are serving.

Q: As VetPartners president, what do you hope to accomplish? What is the board focused on for 2020?
A: Each year, I am impressed with how the board works, in conjunction with the voice of our membership, to continue advancing our association, “for the good of the profession.” This year, the board is preparing for a strategic planning meeting in April. VetPartners conducts these planning sessions every two years, and, in preparation for this year, we launched a survey for all VetPartners stakeholders to provide feedback. Many thanks to all who completed the survey. Feedback from our members—current and past—and sponsors plays an important role in the development of the roadmap for the future direction and health of VetPartners. I’d like to give a big shout-out to my fellow board members for generously giving their time and sharing valuable insights, ideas, and expertise. We have also formed a VetPartners 20th Anniversary Party Planning Task Force, which is in full development mode in building our 20th Anniversary Celebration at the 2021 Annual Meeting in Orlando.

Side note: Here’s a little sneak peek of the 2021 Annual Meeting’s 20th Anniversary Celebration.

Q: What are you grateful for?
A: I want to express deep gratitude to our members, guests, and sponsors for all of your support. VetPartners would not be as healthy an association if we didn’t have the diversity of contributions from our entire community. I also want to give a huge thank you to our administrator extraordinaire, Elizabeth, for all that she does to keep everything moving in the right direction.
